Debuts
This week of debuts was nothing short of great. Our first song bucks this trend, though. It's abcdefu from GAYLE. This song has grown on me since it's debut on Hitbound, but compared to our other debuts its a pile of poo. GAYLE sounds fine here and the production is nice, but it's not especially interesting and not something I would voluntarily listen to.

Next up we have a nice debut from ACRAZE and Cherish called Do it To it. I really enjoy every listen to this song. It just is so upbeat and fun and something you don't get very often. I don't think this will stick around for very long, but hopefully it can at least stay for a few more weeks.

At #24 we have Shawn Mendes with his new song It'll be Okay. I'm shocked this wasn't higher, considering how much Hits 1 loves Shawn. But anyways, about the song. I'm not generally a fan of piano ballads (looking at you, Clinton Kane) but Shawn's voice is wonderful here and as any good singer can, they can pretty much make any slower song great. His voice is great here, and the only reason it isn't green is because of the slow tempo. I have no doubts this will be making big leaps very soon.

The fourth debut comes from Benson Boone, and his song called Ghost Town. I love Benson Bonne's voice here, but again, very slow. I'm not sure that this song will do to well here though. I'd be fine if it did, but I think it will start hot and leave quickly.

All the way up at #15 is feel like this from Tate McRae. I recently really got into her music, and this song is a perfect example of what I love about her. I love her voice here, and the chorus is outstanding. The production is very nice too, and I think the #15 debut means something in this song's case. Hopefully it sticks around for a few months like you broke me first.

Finally, we have an absolutely amazing song debuting all the way up at #13. This song is called I Feel Good, and it's from Pitbull, Anthony Watts, and DJ White Shadow. Can we start with the production? DJWS did an absolutely amazing job on this, and it complements the verses and chorus so well. Anthony Watts has an unbelievably good pre-chorus, and don't even get me started on Pitbull's verses. I really hope this song does amazing here because it deserves to.

Best Debut - Pitbull/Anthony Watts/DJWS - I Feel Good

Biggest Jump - My Universe - Coldplay/BTS, THATS WHAT I WANT - Lil Nas X, Ghost - Justin Bierber (+1) - Well, in  case you haven't figured it out, these are our only jumps this week. Everything else either dropped, held, or got replaced. Seems as though a large number of debuts means there aren't many jumps.

Biggest Drop - Lets Go To Hell - Tai Verdes (-7) - Unfortunately, after getting the biggest jump last week, Lets Go To Hell is back down to #20 with a 7 place drop. Oh well, there are still plenty of good songs ahead of it.

HitBound

The Weekend - BIBI (8)
Male Fantasy - Billie Eilish (DEBUT)
SAD GURLZ LUV MONEY - Amaarae/Moliy/Kali Uchis (4)
You Problem - Monsta X (DEBUT)
I am Woman - Emmy Meli (2)
I Hate You - SZA (DEBUT)
Have Mercy - Chloe (6)
Crisis - Joshua Bassett (2)
2011 - 5 Seconds of Summer (2)
Wandered To L.A. - Juice WRLD/Justin Bieber (DEBUT)
WYD Now - Sadie Jean (DEBUT)
Big Energy - Latto (DEBUT)

Lots of new debuts this week, kicking off with by far the worst one. Is Hits 1 ever going to stop with Billie Eilish and her whisper-singing? This song is so bad. I really hope this doesn't replace Happier Than Ever on the countdown because in comparison to this, that sounds incredible. The production on this is terrible and almost nonexistent, her singing is awful, and overall this is a terrible song. Move on, please.

Next up we have another Monsta X song that I'd way rather have on the countdown right now. It's called You Problem, and it's a really upbeat little song. Everyone singing sounds good, and they did an excellent job with the production. I hope this sticks around for a while and replaces One Day.

Our next song is probably one of the most anticipated songs of this year, and I would say it mostly delivered. Juice WRLD and Justin Bieber both sound great here, but I don't think this shows off both of their talents like it could. Still, it's pretty great.

It seems as though the second half of Hitbound was just an accumulation of all the good songs, and continuing that trend we have WYD Now by Sadie Jean. I like this a lot. Sadie Jean sounds good here, and I just generally can't find anything bad about it. The production is great, she sounds good, and the length is also just right.

Finally, we have Latto with Big Energy. I've been getting more and more into this kind of music lately, and it sounds quite similar to someone like Megan Thee Stallion or Rubi Rose, both of whom have been on Hits 1. Anyways, I really like this song. I think Latto sounds really good here, and the production is amazing. I really hope this finds its way to the countdown or at least the abyss.

Dropping out we have Sabotage, Alone, and let you. I liked all of these songs, so I'm sad to see them go, but at least we have some pretty good debuts.

Blurb it To it

Shivers needs to leave the #1 spot next week. We need to keep Good 4 U the longest running #1 of 2021. Plus, it's getting old and I am very close to downgrading it to blue.

Speaking of downgrading, you may have noticed Easy on Me, SAD GURLZ, and U Gurl getting downgraded. In the case of U Gurl and SAD GURLZ, they are just plain bad, and with every listen I find them worse. Easy on me is good because I'm just starting to get tired of it. It gets so much airplay and I just need it to drop and be replaced by Oh My God.

I also moved up a song, abcdefu by GAYLE. I am finding this song better and better with every listen, and you can expect to find it in the good or great section soon.

Why hasn't Message In A Bottle taken off yet? It's Taylor Swift, I thought Hits 1 loved her.

Why is Meet Me at Our Spot still so high? Hopefully it leaves next week along with love nwantiti and get replaced by Oh My God and edamame.

Yay, Whos In Your Head is dropping. Lets get this outta here, its trash.

Finally, with the exits. Way 2 Sexy was never very good and did nothing on the countdown besides take up room. Oh My God left, but I have no doubts it will be back so I am not worried. Speaking of songs that will come back, The Outside is almost guaranteed to and will probably do well. Yay, Fancy Like is finally gone. I can finally listen to Hits 1 without barfing. I'm sad that INDUSTRY BABY is gone, but it had a great run, so there isn't much to complain about. Still, I wish it would've stick around for a bit like STAY has. Thank God Life Goes On only stayed for one more week. This needs to leave for good.

Thank y'all and see you in the next one (my worst 10 songs of 2021)
