My worst songs of 2021

Hello everyone. Here we have my worst songs of 2021. To be eligible, a song must have dropped out of the Countdown or Hitbound by December 6, 2021. So Life Goes On isn't eligible. With that in mind, here are some dishonorable mentions.

Overwhelmed - Royal and the Serpent

Save Myself - Ashe

Good Days - SZA

The Eulogy of You and Me - LILHUDDY

Follow You - Imagine Dragons

Cry Over Boys - Alexander 23

Calling My Phone - Lil Tjay/6LACK

Your Power - Billie Eilish

t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l - WILLOW/Travis Barker

la di die - Nessa Barrett/jxdn

Fine Apple - Nic D

Reckless - Madison Beer

Essence - WizKid/Justin Bieber/Tems

The Songs

#10 - Nessa Barrett - i hope ur miserable until ur dead

This song is awful. I never liked Nessa Barret's voice, and this song does nothing to change that. I thought it was awful when it entered HitBound, and every time I heard it it seemed worse and worse. She sounds like a terrible ripoff of Tate McRae. In addition, the instrumentals were terrible and if they were meant to save the song they failed terrible. I am very glad that this never entered the countdown because I think it would have done well if it had.

#9 -  Beggin - Maneskin

So, here we have Maneskin with their first of two appearances on this list. This is Beggin, and the whole reason I hate is centered around the guy's voice. He sounds like he has something stuck in his throat. I hate this song, and it did surprisingly well on the countdown. Luckily, its Hits 1 sibling, MAMMAMIA, didn't do as well, but that one is later.

#8 - Solar Power - Lorde

So next up at #8 we have Lorde with Solar Power. I find this song bad because there's nothing to like about it. The production is terrible, and it just drags the already bad song down further. Lorde sounds terrible here, and I am glad this wasn't a hit. It just wasn't good in every way, not even lyrically. The fact that it's so low on this list shows you how bad some of the music this year was.

#7 - Arcade - Duncan Laurance

So, here we have some more trash. The subject of this song is very sad, but he just didn't deliver on the song. Basically, it's about him having to move away from his best friend when he was very young. He doesn't sound very good here, but what really drags this down is the production. It's just so appalling, and his slow and quiet singing doesn't help things. I don't like piano ballads in general, so it's nt a big surprise I don't like this either. But it's not the worst, so thats good.

#6 - MAMMAMIA - Maneskin

So Maneskin makes their second appearance on this list with MAMMAMIA. The singing is this is so bad. Once again, the man singing sounds absolutely awful. Literally anyone else would be better. Also, the instrumentals on this is awful. It complements his voice in the worst possible way. This is the second song with a good message that turned out terribly on this list.

#5 - Mooski - Track Star

This song is absolutely terrible. The repetitiveness of it really takes away from the experience. The Chris Brown remix Hits 1 had for a while made it better, but the original is terrible. Mooski sounds terrible here, and it makes little sense lyrically. It seems like on of those songs that is written for the pure reason of writing it. The production is awful, the singing is awful, and this song just doesn't deliver.

#4 - Deep End - Foushee

The top four songs on this list are so awful, I had a really hard time placing them. But coming in at number four is Deep End from Foushee. Her voice here is very high-pitched in all the wrong ways. I am really glad this wasn't a very big hits here because it's awful and no one's ears deserve to be tortured with this absurdity.

#3 - Heartbreak Annviersary - Giveon

Okay so here's number three. This song will almost certainly be #1 on Waffle's list but anyways, let get into it. When I first heard this song, I thought it was a walkie-talkie in the beginning, and as the song progressed my low opinion of it got lower and lower. I just hate his voice here, it sounds so autotuned. Also, the fact that it was on Hitbound for 18 weeks is insane.

#2 - Glass Animals - Heat Waves

This song is so awful. It's only about thirty seconds of the guy singing the same lyric over and over again. Literally the first minute of the song is just production. And so is the last half. On top of that, it is so hard to comprehend what he's saying because theres so much ooooooooohing. I hate this song, and yet we still have a worse #1 to get to. So, here we go.

The worst song of the year is

#1 - Lie Lie Lie - Joshua Bassett

This song is bad in so many ways. First, lets start with the backstory. So basically, in around January 2020, Olivia Rodrigo broke up with Joshua Bassett and then released her song drivers license. In response to this Joshua released this song, Lie Lie Lie. Olivia then went on to release deja vu, good 4 u, and eventually a whole album. The album wasn't completely about her breakup, but most of it was. Meanwhile, Joshua released a few songs about the conflict, called Crisis, Set Me Free, and Secret. Right now, Crisis is on Hitbound and if it sticks around for a while it has a strong chance of being on this list for 2022. Traitor, from SOUR, is right now around #10 on the Countdown. I have taken Olivia's side on this issue ever since it became a thing. So going into this song, I didn't like it. And boy, did it fail to raise my opinion. He sounds terrible, and the chorus sucks. Also, the radio edit was pretty weird. It was basically the same song for about 3 minutes, and it didn't deserve to do anything at all on Hits 1.

So next week we're gonna have some Hits 1 stats like smallest biggest jump, etc. We'll also have my top 30 this week. See yall then.
